Attractions

Newark is very lucky to have so many attractions in the local vicinity, there are also a lot of events that happen each week. Newark is full of historic and interesting places to visit. Here are some of our little gems that we have found

Places to visit

A fantastic Art Gallery called Meander and Mooch, with a stunning collection of  1970’s music idol’s such as, David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Marc Bolan and Kate Bush!

I have to admit I now own a wonderful pencil drawing of Kate Bush which completely took my breath away and I just had to buy.

Steve, who had a ‘significant’ birthday this year, now is the proud owner of a fabulous painting of Debbie Harry

The gallery is jammed packed with great art plus  ceramics and jewellery, well worth a visit.

If you like art galleries, you can also enjoy a superb art gallery, featuring many local artists at’No. 6′ on Stodman street. This gallery also has breathtaking ceramics and glass sculpture pieces.

Pubs and Bars

Newark has a range of places to go at night, depending on the night that you want. We have some great bars and pubs to visit, we have the award winning just beer which is Newark’s own micro pub. The Prince Rupert, a lovely oldie worldly pub steeped in history and serves great pub food. The Navigation which has live music on Fridays and Sundays and The Flying Circus which offers a range of world beers and ciders and also has live music at weekends. We also like the the Ram, which has a restaurant as well as cosy sitting areas, with settee’s and armchairs and several open fires.

Food Places

If you are wanting to go for food in Newark then these are a few of the places we would recommend. For day time cafe’s, Feeling Peckish offers locally sourced food that tastes great, we have The green olive in the market square that offers food, cakes and coffee. Gannets has a wealth of super healthy foods and very tempting not so healthy Cakes and pudding’s and we would also challenge you to find the Secret Garden Cafe, and sample their range of snacks and cakes.
This is only a small sample of all the many places to eat, drink and be entertained in Newark and we are confident there is somewhere to suit everyone’s tastes and wishes.
